Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and Novelward (“Novelward”, “we”, “us”) for your use of Novelward AI. Please read them alongside our Privacy Notice, which explains what we do with your data.
1. Who can use Novelward AI
You must be 16 or older to create an account. When you sign up we ask you to confirm this. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 16, and we do not offer parent, teacher, school, or child accounts. If we receive credible evidence that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will restrict access and follow our documented deletion or guardian-resolution process.
2. Your account
You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email address; there is no password to manage. Keep access to that mailbox secure — anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@novelward.pro if you believe it has been used without your permission.
3. Your work stays yours
You keep all rights you already hold in what you upload and in what you write. We do not claim ownership of your manuscript, your edits, or the continuations you accept into your project.
To operate the service we need your permission to process your work — for example, to store it, parse it into chapters, build your Story Map, send the relevant passages to our AI provider so it can draft a scene, and generate the files you export. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to do those things solely to provide the service to you. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the retention periods in our Privacy Notice.
We do not use your manuscripts, prompts, or generated continuations to train our models or anyone else’s. We do not publish your work — Novelward AI has no public gallery, feed, or shareable public link.
4. What you may upload
Novelward AI is only for work you have the right to use. Before we process a manuscript, you must affirm one of the following:
- You wrote it yourself;
- You hold a licence permitting you to process it;
- The rights holder has given you explicit permission; or
- You have verified it is in the public domain.
We record that affirmation with a timestamp and the policy version. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you affirm, for the content you upload, and for how you use what the service generates.
5. What you may not do
You may not use Novelward AI to:
- Upload commercial novels, stories, scripts, comics, manga, or translations you do not own or have permission to process, or any pirated, leaked, or paywalled manuscript;
- Produce an unauthorised sequel or continuation using protected characters, settings, or plot elements, or try to reproduce substantial passages of someone else’s work;
- Make output imitate the distinctive style of a named living author;
- Create sexual content involving minors, or content that grooms, exploits, or sexualises ambiguous ages;
- Seek or produce instructions that encourage self-harm, abuse, or other concrete harm;
- Break the law, or breach the terms of the AI provider we rely on.
Copyright owners hold the exclusive right to prepare derivative works. Private or non-commercial use of someone else’s work is not automatically lawful, and we cannot advise you on whether your particular use is permitted.
6. AI output, copyright, and disclosure
Novelward AI drafts prose at your direction. Three things follow from that, and we want to be direct about them:
- We cannot promise AI output is copyrightable. Copyright protection depends on human-authored expression, and prompting alone may not be enough. We preserve your decisions, edits, and version history so your contribution is visible, but that is not a guarantee of registration or ownership.
- Some platforms require you to disclose AI-generated text. Amazon KDP, for example, treats AI-generated text as disclosable even after you substantially edit it; AI used only to edit, refine, or improve text you drafted yourself is generally treated differently, as “AI-assisted”. A continuation scene generated here is AI-generated content under that definition, no matter how much you rewrite it afterwards.
- The duty is yours, and we will never help you avoid it. We will not advise or imply that concealing AI involvement is safe, undetectable, or endorsed. Platform rules change and vary by jurisdiction; you are responsible for the rules where you publish. This is information, not legal advice.
The Human Contribution Log you can export records your selections, edits, and acceptances so you can inspect your own contribution. It documents creative selection, arrangement, and modification. It makes no claim about copyright registrability or any legal outcome.
7. Plans, payment, and cancellation
Novelward AI offers a Free plan and paid plans (Starter and Writer). Plan limits — such as how many continuation scenes you can generate — are shown in the product. Export is available on every plan and adds no watermark to your work.
Paid plans are sold by Paddle, our merchant of record. Paddle appears on your statement, issues your invoice, and collects any applicable taxes. Subscriptions are billed in advance in US dollars on the interval you choose — monthly or annually — and renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. The price you pay is the price shown at checkout before you confirm.
You can cancel at any time from Settings → Billing. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the plan you have already paid for, and you keep paid access until the end of the current period, after which your account returns to the Free plan. Cancelling does not silently delete your writing — you keep read and export access while your account and project remain active. Refunds are handled under our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
8. Availability and changes to the service
We are building Novelward AI actively, and features may change, pause, or be withdrawn. We will give reasonable notice of material changes that reduce what you can do with work you have already created, and we will not remove your ability to export it without notice.
9. Suspension and termination
We may restrict or suspend an account that breaches these terms or applicable law. Where we can do so safely, we will tell you which policy category applies and offer a way to correct the problem. Enforcement decisions are not made solely by an automated classifier, and you may appeal by contacting support@novelward.pro.
You may close your account at any time from your privacy settings. Deletion is described in the Privacy Notice.
10. Disclaimers and liability
Novelward AI is a drafting tool. Generated text may be inaccurate, inconsistent with your canon, or unsuitable for publication, and the continuity checks we provide are aids rather than guarantees. You are responsible for reviewing what you publish.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Novelward AI is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that generated text will be accurate, original, publishable, or fit for any particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Novelward will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or US$50.
You are responsible for the content you upload and for holding the rights to it. You agree to indemnify and hold Novelward harmless from claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from content you upload without the necessary rights, or from your use of the service in breach of these terms or applicable law.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your non-waivable rights under the consumer-protection law of your country. This is information, not legal advice.
11. Changes to these terms
We version this document. If we make a material change we will tell you before it takes effect and, where the change affects how we handle your content, ask you to review it again.
12. Contact and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, and the courts of Hanoi, Vietnam have jurisdiction over any dispute — without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
